IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH MY AMAZON ECHO?

Yes it is. Oakter is compatible with amazon echo used in India.
Your amazon devices and region settings should be set to India for you to be able to see the Oakter skill in your skills page.

WILL YOU INSTALL THE DEVICES?

Installation is required for the Smart boxes for switches.
The smart plugs and hub can be installed by following instructions on the packaging and app. Oakter offers installation in Select cities.

DO I NEED WIFI AT HOME?

You require wifi at home for the WiFi smart home hub. The GSM hub can be operated with your own data enabled SIM card.

HOW MANY DEVICES CAN I OPERATE

One hub can operate 50 Oakter devices. A quadra smart box can operate four devices each. One quadra is also counted as one Oakter device.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APP?

The app is absolutely free.

WHAT MOBILE PLATFORMS DO YOU SUPPORT?

iOS and Android are fullt supported. We have no windows phone product available.

ARE YOU COMPATIBLE WITH VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS

We are hard at work integrating virtual assistants so that you can use voice commands. The feature will be available soon

WHAT IS A FIRMWARE UPDATE

The software that runs your devices can be updated remotely. This means, for some features, you may not need to buy a new device and can upgrade your existing devices for no extra charge

WHAT IS THIS HUB?

Hub is a little box that sits in corner and provides internet connectivity to all the leaves. In a normal house only 1 hub is needed. It has range of 150ft in an open area and about 50ft with walls and other obstructions. It should always remain powered-on & preferably connected to wall socket with inverter back-up.

IS THERE A WARRANTY/RETURN POLICY?

Return Policy: We follow a no questions asked return policy (for a fully functional product) within 15 days of purchase. For all returns, you must pack your Oakter product in its original packaging and include all accessories and documentation. We reserve the right to charge for any damage to the Oakter products, and missing part fees (if applicable) may apply. You will be responsible for all return shipping charges and shall assume all risk of loss or damage to product while in transit to us. Warranty Policy: We provide a one year warranty for manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. We will provide a replacement in case of any defects. Replacement products may be new or refurbished at our discretion. This warranty does not apply to: (i) cosmetic damage, such as scratches, nicks, stains, cracks and dents; (ii) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, water, flood, fire, or any other acts of nature or external causes; (iii) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not an authorized service provider of Oakter

Oakter is modular, which means you can start with even one device as long as you purchase a hub. You can continue buying devices and add to the hub as and when you like.

HAVING TROUBLE:

I cant find Oakter skills in my Alexa app

This could happen if your Amazon account’s region settings (including that of kindle) are not completely migrated to India. If you can’t find India specific skills like Saavn, Oakter etc, you should try setting the region in alexa app to India. You can get help from “THIS LINK.

 

Alexa says “device name not responsive”. What can I do?

First of all, check if you are pronouncing the name correctly. You can hear how Alexa understood what you are saying, by listening to her repeat it in her response.
If Alexa is getting the name right, then move to the next step
check if your Oakter hub is powered ON, and connected to internet, the LED on the Oakter hub will be Orange.
Then use your Oakter app and try to operate the same device you were trying to operate with Alexa.
If that does not work, then Oakter device is either powered off, or far out of range. You may have to power ON the device or bring it within range. Any Oakter device has to be kept at least 4 ft away from the HUB for reliable operation
If it is working with Oakter app then move to the next step

Open alexa app and find the device in the Smart home menu
Cick on the icon and a new screen will show a circular icon
Click on the icon and check if it responding.
If Oakter is responding, then Alexa and Oakter are talking to each other and Alexa is ready to take voice commands

If none of this works, try starting over, as explained in the last point in this FAQ

Where should I rename my Oakter device?

Always rename your devices from the Oakter app and not from the Alexa app.

I changed the name of the device in Oakter app, but Alexa is not responding to the new name.

Once you rename a device in Oakter, you have to say “Alexa, discover devices” to your amazon echo, for it to re-capture the name of the device. Alexa will say “no new devices found” this is ok beacuse the devices are already added to your alexa and only names are being updated.

I am seeing multiple devices of the same name in Alexa. How can I change it?

Give unique names to your devices in the Oakter app as explained in point 3 above, and follow step 4.

How do you ship packages?

Packages from our Indian warehouses would be shipped by India Post, Delhivery or any other courier operator suitable to the PIN code. Packages from our warehouse in China will be shipped by China Post or EMS depending on the weight and size of the product.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. We do ship internationally but from our China warehouse only. Please look for WORLD STORE icon on individual product page.

What about customs?

For India we take care of custom & other taxes so you don't have to pay anything extra than the purchase price however for other countries we are not responsible for any custom fees once the items have shipped. By purchasing our products, you consent that one or more packages may be shipped to you and may get custom fees when they arrive to your country.

Do you provide tracking information?

Yes, you will receive an email once your order ships that contains your tracking information. If you haven’t received tracking info within 5 days, please contact us.

My tracking says “no information available at the moment”.

For some shipping companies, it takes 2-5 business days for the tracking information to update on the system. If your order was placed more than 5 business days ago and there is still no information on your tracking number, please contact us.

Will my items be sent in one package?

For logistical reasons, items in the same purchase will sometimes be sent in separate packages, even if you've specified combined shipping.

REFUNDS & RETURNS POLICY

Order cancellation

All orders can be cancelled until they are shipped. If your order has been paid and you need to make a change or cancel an order, you must contact us within 12 hours. Once the packaging and shipping process has started, it can no longer be cancelled.

Refunds

Your satisfaction is our #1 priority. Therefore, if you’d like a refund you can request one no matter the reason.

If you did not receive the product within the guaranteed time( 45 days not including 2-5 day processing) you can request a refund or a reshipment.
If you received the wrong item you can request a refund or a reshipment.
If you do not want the product you’ve received you may request a refund but you must return the item at your expense and the item must be unused.

  • Your order did not arrive due to factors within your control (i.e. providing the wrong shipping address)
  • Your order did not arrive due to exceptional circumstances outside the control of homelett (i.e. not cleared by customs, delayed by a natural disaster).
